Battle for components is continuing unabated #componentshortage

Not only powerful car manufacturers are facing shortages of electronic components. We, too, feel that the strong revival of the market is affecting the scarcity on the component market enormously. It is a fight for every component and often delivery only takes place at the very last moment, not at all or much later. This creates additional pressure on our operations department to produce, test and ship everything to our customers.

"Pushing and pulling" for electronic components

We always try to select alternative types for all components for our electronic controllers in case they are out of stock, etc. However, this is not possible for microprocessor chips because this is a unique component on which the entire controller board is built. Our colleagues in purchasing are doing everything they can to obtain these components via alternative routes.

Material and capacity are paramount for electronics manufacturing

Fortunately, this year we have invested in additional production machines in our new building. The additional SMD line will triple our production capacity, and the extra test lines will greatly increase our capacity there as well.  But then, of course, the material must be available. In the meantime, we must pass on our component orders to suppliers for the first two quarters of 2023 (!). Therefore, we ask our customers to pass on orders and forecasts for that period as soon as possible.
