Far-reaching attention to the environment ties in with our values
Respect is one of our values. Respect for colleagues, customers, suppliers, but also for the environment and our surroundings. That is why we consciously chose a sustainable, energy-efficient and very well insulated building in combination with a high-performance ventilation system with heat recovery.
Geothermal heat pump
The building is heated by means of a geothermal heat pump. Two large holes were drilled into the ground to a depth of about 100 m. From one well the water is pumped up while in the other the water is pumped down again. In this way the building is heated in the winter and cooled in the summer.
The E.D.&A. building has an E-level of 9 and a K-level of 25. The E-level indicates the energy efficiency of a building. Which lighting is used? How is the heating achieved? Is alternative energy used, generated by, for example, solar panels or by a heat pump boiler, etc. The E-level takes this into account. The lower the number, the better.
The K-level gives an indication of how well or poorly a building is insulated. The lower this number, the better the insulation of the building.
So you can safely say that our building is very energy efficient and well insulated.
Charging stations on the parking lot
At this moment we already have a charging station with two connections on our site. In the long run we want - when the new building is ready - to provide some more at the new parking spaces. This station can be activated and used via NFC. At a later stage we will connect them to a network, so that all our colleagues can access the charging stations via an app.
To meet our own energy consumption, the roof of the building was maximised by installing solar panels. This installation has a capacity of 120kWp, generating around 100.000kWh per year. This covers a large part of our own consumption.
Sports-minded colleagues shower with hot water thanks to the servers
Many athletic colleagues work at E.D.&A. Many employees commute by bike. They can shower here. The hot water is generated by a heat pump boiler that recuperates the heat from our servers.
