History

E.D.&A. has been active for almost 40 years in the development and production of custom-made electronic controllers for intelligent machines and equipment. We are proud of the milestones in our history.

1981

Founding of EDA by Flor D’Handschotter and Agnes Francken in the attic of their house in Kalmthout. Started making customer-specific electronics designs.

1984

Marketing of the first completely Belgian PLC: the “EDA PLC”. These user-friendly products were used by schools to introduce students to PLCs.

1989

The name EDA is changed to E.D.&A. (Electronics, Development & Assembly).

1990

E.D.&A. moves to a larger building in Kapellen (800 square meters).

1997

Exclusive focus on custom-made electronic controllers for machine and equipment manufacturers.

2007

Expansion of the facilities in Kapellen to 1,600 square metres.

2009

Taken over by Gert D’Handschotter (son of the founders). E.D.&A. is and remains a family business.

2011

Expansion of the facilities in Kapellen to 2,000 square metres.

2012

Production in-house. Start-up of our own state-of-the-art automated assembly line for custom-made electronics.

2014

Relocation to a new and ultramodern industrial building in Kalmthout (4,000 square metres).

2016

E.D.&A. receives Factory of the Future award.

2018

E.D.&A. is one of the first Belgian companies to receive the ‘Belgium’s Best Managed Company’ label.

2019

E.D.&A. receives again Factory of the Future award and ISO 9001:2015.

2021

E.D.&A. doubles the surface of its premises (extra production line, offices and warehouse).

2022

E.D.&A. obtains again Factory of the Future Award and ISO 9001:2015.
