E.D.&A has a new HPC®: the V5-2000 HPC® (November 2000)

E.D.&A., the Belgian manufacturer of programmable controllers, presents its newest C programmable controller, the V5-2000 HPC® on the Maintenance & Techniek 2000 fair. Also with this new modular system E.D.&A aims at machine and appliance builders.

'3 in 1'-module

With this new V5 High Performance Controller (HPC®) E.D.&A continues with the '3 in 1' concept. The 2000 model usually integrates an operation terminal and a control unit + communication possibilities in 1 compact module, just like its predecessor in the V5 spectrum. This concept considerably limits mounting, software and wiring costs. The new 2000 model takes over the most important trumps of the 1000 model, but also offers a bigger display and more I/O possibilities.

Graphic display

The most striking element of this V5-2000 HPC® is the graphic (colour) display which replaces the 2x20 or 4x20 alphanumerical display of the 1000 model. This display of 117 by 88 mm is available in black and white monochrome or in 16 (TFT or STN) colours.

Texts and drawings on this screen indicate in which condition the specifically controlled machine is in. By means of the keyboard, provided with a maximum of 71 keys, the user can easily alter certain settings or ask for specific data.

This new HPC® with standard IP-65 panel mounting has 2 serial ports of which one has been equipped with FIFO. There is enough space to contain 10 random I/O cards, such as the LON interface or the V-NET® interface. Optionally the basic system of the 2000 model can be equipped with 1 or even 2 cards, which can be chosen from: 4 analogue inputs /2 analogue outputs or 8 analogue inputs/4 analogue outputs. For its newest family member E.D.&A nv also uses the EPL programming language which is common for all models from its controllers spectrum.
