Description development / required specifications

Our customer previously used a traditional PLC without an operating interface. Operation occurred by means of switches, lamps and engraved text plates. The brief was to modernize the operation of the machine, make this user friendly and at the same time save on costs.

Apart from the operational side the unit also had to control the machine and the temperature and Ph level of the water needed to be regulated as well.

By using the V5 HPC^®, the controller and the operating panel were integrated into one device built into the door. The language dependent plates, lamps and buttons were removed which meant a saving on labour and components. The software was written so that the operating interface could be set up by the customer in the required language.

The PID adjustments are made via E.D.&A.'s PID software library. The V5 HPC^® is equipped with an internal extension card with analogue inputs and outputs.

Large export machines are often provided with a modem. The modem allows any possible breakdowns to be registered and resolved from the workplace in the Netherlands. This also enables the update of the machines with the latest software versions which in turn has a cost-saving aspect as it eliminates frequent travel.
