Switch heating controller
Company that is specializing in the supply of high-grade rail applications for rail, tram and metro companies, principally in the field of switch heating.
Description development / required specifications
The purpose of this controller was the heating adjustment by switching it on and off and the enabling of remote monitoring.
In detail
The modules communicate over a 2 wire RS485 network with E.D.&A.'s V5 HPC®.
As soon as the temperature falls under a specific value, the V5 HPC® gives the command to the heating controller to switch on. The controller switches the spark igniters on and checks after a short while if the points warm up. With the communication options, status and breakdowns can be reported locally and remotely.
Insensitivity to interference in this design was of the utmost importance because of the many electrical and magnetic interference fields that passing trains generate.
