Description development / required specifications
The product line of our customer comprised of 4 silk screen machines with different options on each machine. The customer had the following requirements for the modernisation of the controller:
- New controller should have the same "look" as the old controller
- Modular construction due to the amount of I/O
- The software had to integrate with various models using only one software version
- Standard support in five languages
- Lower price in comparison to a PLC
Using the V5 HPC® with the extension rack took care of a modular solution of 24 to 94 I/O. The application software was written in a way that the customer only had to have one software version, which supported all the machines models and all languages.
During factory installation the required language, machine type and options were entered via a service menu with password protection. The maintenance of the software and chance of errors were hereby reduced to a minimum. A new customised label was developed for this controller, so that the look matched the "old" controller.
